When I left Canada it was -35Dg degrees and 2 flights layer I was soaking up 30 degrees in beautiful Durban, South Africa. For those of you that have been following my journey, you have probably realized that I was born in South Africa. The Oyster Box hotel has been on my bucket list for years. As a young child I would dream about the fancy dress I was going to wear at the famous high tea afternoons.
I finally made a mark on that unimaginable list and immersed myself in the pure luxury of this hotel. Only 20 minutes from the Durban airport and on the Umhlanga Beachfront. When I checked in I felt like I was stepping into another dimension of luxury, the kind that is old modern and timeless.
We were escorted to our garden facing room with a private plunge pool and walked into the ultimate two story hotel suite furnished to every impeccable detail. The property is a tropical paradise with exotic birds, butterflies and even a family of monkeys if you are lucky. There is something for the entire family to enjoy. We made reservations for the famous curry buffet overlooking the ocean and it was the ultimate taste sensation in true Durban Style.
